Do not use cryogenic vials for storage in the liquid phase of liquid nitrogen. Only store vials in the vapor phase above the liquified gas. Cryopreservation is an essential process for halting almost all chemical reactions during long-term storage and for preventing sample degradation. Cryogenic vial closures and tubes are made of polypropylene with the same coefficient of expansion, which further enhances the leakproof qualities of these vials at various temperatures.
